Key Steps to Success
*  Ensure that your technology - including computer, internet and webcam - meets Boston University's requirements. Read below for additional information about system requirements (http://www.bu.edu/tech/services/teaching/lms/blackboard/system-requirements/).
*  Schedule sufficient time each week to attend class, study course materials, and submit assignments.
*  Maintain minimum grades in each section of the course (see below for minimum grade details).

Online Environment & Technology
*  Students are responsible for reviewing the technical requirements (http://www.bu.edu/tech/services/teaching/lms/blackboard/system-requirements/) prior to class registration to ensure that their computer is compatible with all the technical requirements. 
*  Boston University online classes are delivered through the Blackboard (http://www.bu.edu/tech/services/teaching/lms/blackboard/how-to/) learning management system. Students are expected to have proficiency in basic computer skills (such as saving documents, uploading documents, and navigating the internet) in order to successfully function in the online course. 
*  The course requires a high-speed internet connection (a minimum speed of 50Mbps is recommended). 
*  Mozilla Firefox is BU's preferred browser.
*  Zoom (https://bostonu.zoom.us/download) (Zoom Client for Meetings) is used for Live Classroom sessions in Blackboard. 
*  Assignments are to be submitted using Microsoft Word and Excel, as noted in the syllabus.
*  Smartphones and tablets are insufficient for online access and do not have all of the features needed to successfully access Blackboard and its associated technology. 
*  Computer access issues and/or technology failures do not excuse a student from any aspect of the course and will not be sufficient justification for receiving a refund.

Workload and Time Commitment
*  Boston University's online classes are designed for the adult learner. Each class has a series of sections with specific content. Self-pacing to ensure you meet deadlines for all course material is critical to student success.
*  Sections cannot be retaken and/or extended for any reason. It is recommended that students who wish to have hard copy of the course print the content at the beginning of each section for future reference. 
*  Plan to commit sufficient time each week to attend the course. The amount of time required varies by student and course, but at minimum, plan to spend at least 10 hours per week on the coursework, and in some cases, more than 20 hours per week may be required.  You will be expected to read and watch course content, read outside assignments and materials, respond to online discussion questions, participate in a Live Classroom, and complete written assignments and learning assessments. 
*  Learning assessments, assignments, and other course requirements will be listed in the syllabus, and they will be graded.
*  Assignments and assessments for grades must be completed by the due date noted in the syllabus. Once the assignment or assessment due date has passed, late assignments will not be accepted, and the submission portal will not be reopened or extended for any reason. Vacation and other planned events, as well as unplanned events/circumstances, do not excuse students from their coursework or assignment deadlines.
*  Students are expected to attend (log in) to their course daily to check for internal messages and course announcements.

Successful Completion and Additional Information
*  Boston University Center for Professional Education courses are offered on a non-degree basis and are not eligible for University credit.
*  Students must maintain a "B-" (80 or above) overall average (cumulative) and earn at least a "C" (73 or above) in each section or course in order to successfully earn their certificate.
*  Students are responsible for tracking grade progress through the online grade book in the course. Students will receive an overall grade in the form of a letter grade at the completion of the class. This grade will not appear on the certificate. 
*  Students must complete all coursework within the session for which they are enrolled. 
*  Failure to log in and participate in the class does not constitute dropping the class. However, it could result in an F grade.
*  Students needing special accommodations due to a documented disability should contact Boston University's Office of Disability Services (https://bu-accommodate.symplicity.com/public_accommodation/) well before the class begins. Accommodations can take several weeks to put into place, and should be in place before the class begins.

Payment and Refunds
*  Tuition payments must be made in full (or pending payment is confirmed) prior to the class start.
*  Students should review all policies regarding deadlines for dropping and withdrawing from a class, as there are financial consequences and deadlines.
*  No refunds will be issued after the drop or withdrawal deadline date has passed.
